The Venue and Costs
The SLI Advanced Diploma in Interpreting and Translation: BSL-English is fully residential and, as such, is all inclusive. The cost for the new course structure is £6888 which, for students paying their own fees, can be paid in 12 interest-free monthly instalments of £574.00.
Unlike some Interpreter Training courses, there are no hidden costs, no charges for the interview process, no charge for individual learning support (tutorials), no TSLI supervision costs and no additional charge for any resubmissions if needed. Other than your travel costs, time commitment (which, be in no doubt, will be extensive) and some of your mobile phone contract minutes when you seek 1:1 support, there’s absolutely nothing else to pay. You will, though, need to be very nice to your Deaf friends, colleagues and family as you will need their help and support throughout the course and, in particular, with collecting video clips for your final assessments.
The course is held at the Olde Barn Hotel, Marston, Lincolnshire NG32 2HT (theoldebarnhotel.co.uk). This three-star hotel has a health club featuring an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi spa, plus a fitness suite which are all available to you during your stay at no extra cost. There is also ample free parking and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. You will be allocated your own room and all meals and refreshments are included throughout the weekend. The nearest railway station is Grantham which is on the East Coast mainline.
